  • Eat Well, Feel Well – The Connection Between Nutrition & Mental Health
20 Feb

March is National Nutrition Month, and it’s the perfect time to think about how the food we eat affects not just our bodies but also our minds. Have you ever noticed how a balanced meal can leave you feeling energized, while too much junk food can leave you sluggish and irritable? That’s because our brains thrive on the right nutrients!

Foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids (like salmon and walnuts) help support brain function and may even reduce anxiety. Leafy greens, nuts, and seeds provide magnesium, which plays a role in calming the nervous system. And whole grains help keep blood sugar levels steady, preventing those mood swings we all want to avoid.

And don’t forget water! Even mild dehydration can lead to fatigue, brain fog, and irritability. So, staying hydrated is just as important as eating well.

This National Nutrition Month, challenge yourself to make small changes—swap out processed snacks for whole foods, add more veggies to your plate, or simply drink more water. Your mind and body will thank you!
